Join Us for a Series of Events with Artist Abel Rodriguez
We’re honored to host Abel Rodriguez, a Queer Xicano artist and cultural advocate from Fairfield, CA. Throughout May, Abel will join TANA and UC Davis community to share his journey, artwork, and collective spirit of the Vallejo-based Comalito Collective.

From his roots in a farm-working family to co-founding Comalito Collective Cultural Arts, Abel discusses how his figurative practice examines identity, memory, class, and the lasting impacts of colonization.

Encuentros highlights the work of Abel Rodriguez alongside an ecosystem of collaborators and compañerxs from the Comalito Collective. Grounded in the long tradition of Chicanx/Latinx/Indigenous talleres, this exhibition is a living archive of collective practice and creative resistance across generations.

Where: Taller Arte del Nuevo Amanecer (TANA), Woodland, CA
Discover the power of collective storytelling in this hands-on workshop led by Abel Rodriguez. Participants will explore how separate elements- images, textures, and personal materials- can be transformed into a cohesive artwork that reflects our shared experiences. No prior experience is needed. This workshop is free and open to all ages and skill levels!
